Experiencing life experience.

The ironic period of a lifetime.

Are you now in a stage where you can no longer be that 20-something year old boy or girl, whose life happened to be a carnival field back then? With not much responsibilities, no real threat to whatsoever you were doing, with the kind of freedom that societies could forgive you of your idiotic behavior while saying, “It’s ok, he/she is still young, he/she does not know much about the world”. Well, at some point in life, all of us have to forget about this stage and learn as much as we can from our experience, should we? Otherwise it would all just be a waste of time.

If you happens to be in the above category, well I would like to say, welcome to the real life, dear friend! This post is dedicated for those who are currently in the midst of their life, wandering around doing whatever it is they were doing, yet have no clear clue of the outcome or goal of it. It is at this time, that people usually got lost in deciding what they want to do with their limited time in life. It is at this time, that when we are bumped on to those intersections we cannot just take a turn without considering the benefits and costs of our action. But fear not, dear friend, because it is at this time, that life is actually starting to reveal its best options for us. All those confusing path that we are in now, wherever or whoever you are, will eventually leads us to be the person we are expecting we would be, if we work hard for it. I know how hard it is sometimes to give up something fun in this life, considering we would only live this life once. Being caught up in the dilemma of freedom and obligation is a bitch, i understand. The problem is, we can only go so far in playing around with our mortal life. All of us will die, someday. And it would not be that fun anymore once we reach our old age and starting to realize that we have wasted a lot of opportunities that life have offered us. I certainly would not want to stand in that position, what about you?

Being an adult gives us the freedom to choose how we would want to lead our life. It gives us the prerogative rights to manage and decide what is right and wrong. Often we took the wrong words to say or the dark path to go as a result of this power we possessed. Most of the time it happens because the things that we want are not always the things that we need, at that very moment. We are the generation of instant gratification, where we are more than focused on celebrating things that can gives us quick happiness. We no longer read books because it is thick and boring, we browse the internet. We no longer walk to that convenient store although it is just a couple blocks away, we ride our bikes. Things that are more convenient to us seems to be the right thing for us to do. Without noticing the effect of it, we are actually driving ourselves backward to civilization. People are being more and more individualized, nowadays-it is me who matters the most. Much like those days back then where humans are fighting for meat and land and women and wealth and fame. We are in the brink of extinction, yet we thought that we are advancing in the technology industry.

It is definitely much more satisfying to watch a movie in the cinema or hanging around with your friends at some cafe or going clubbing with your buddies than sitting at home doing your paperwork or dissertation. We tend to do something that can give us instant joy or happiness, that is the very nature of human. We want it all in front of us, but none of it will bring us to the state of peace we would like to be, at the end of the day. We are fooling ourselves, that is what we do. There is one important skill that we need to learn in life. It is the ultimate weapon of success. It is what brings human age to this state we are in. It is the secret of delaying gratification (Peck, 1985). He said in his book that we are being tricked by our mind to achieve the quickest joy without having to work hard for it. Life is fooling us by showing all those fancy clothes or those crazy parties to slow us down in grasping the higher success that we are actually capable to achieve. Most of us have somewhat similar experience to this. We all have done something, which is not at all contributing to the actual peace of mind that we are dreaming of. Bear in mind, no one is a loser. If you are still here reading this post than you still have time to stop, wherever you might be, turn around and take the better path in life. No one to judge, no one to blame, you are solely responsible for your life long learning and every one of us needs the experience.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has said:

“Do not try too much to acquire property
or else you will be absorbed by being too enamored with the world.”
